Climate Experts · Custom homes are our specialty

Custom-home HVAC.
Comfort planned around your life.

The best time to talk about your home’s heating and cooling is before the HVAC design begins. Climate Experts helps you and your builder make thoughtful equipment choices, establish a realistic budget, and plan the comfort you want to live with for years to come.

The home you imagine. The comfort behind it.

Beautiful homes deserve thoughtful mechanical planning.

A custom home gives you the opportunity to shape how you live—from a warm basement floor to comfortable bedrooms upstairs, fresh air in the living spaces, and controls that make sense to everyone in the family. Those details deserve a place in the conversation while the project is still taking shape.

Climate Experts has completed thousands of custom-home and renovation projects, including additions, basement-underpinning HVAC work, high-performance homes, certified Passive House projects, multi-dwelling homes and large custom homes. We bring that breadth of hands-on experience to the decisions that connect the architecture, mechanical systems, and your everyday comfort.

Our owner and founder, Cody Johnson, started on the tools and brings 20 years of custom-home and renovation HVAC experience, with a particular focus on hydronics. He grew up in Pickering and still calls it home. You can discuss the project with someone who understands both the proposed systems and the practical work required to install them.

Start before HVAC design

Let’s make the important choices together.

Before you are asked to choose from a long list of equipment, we help you and your builder establish what matters: how the rooms will be used, the comfort you expect, the systems you prefer, and the budget you want to work within.

Our upfront consulting and proposal estimates help narrow the choices to a suitable direction. That gives the detailed HVAC design a practical starting point instead of leaving major equipment and cost decisions until later.

What we work through with you

  • Your comfort priorities, must-haves, and room-by-room needs.
  • Equipment choices and the installation work each approach requires.
  • Mechanical-room space, concealed equipment, ductwork layouts, and routes.
  • Heating, cooling, ventilation, humidity control, and hot water as a coordinated plan.
  • Anticipated costs, scope assumptions, and a realistic project budget.

Early proposals establish the direction. Final capacities, equipment selections, and pricing are coordinated with the completed design and agreed scope.

A comfort system that belongs in your home.

We look beyond a single piece of equipment. Your heating, cooling, ventilation, and controls need to work with the layout and the way you plan to use the home.

Radiant floors & hydronic comfort

Plan in-floor heating, radiators, towel warmers, and fan coils with a suitable boiler or other hydronic heat source. We consider the floor assembly, water temperatures, controls, and the spaces you want to keep comfortable.

Concealed heating & cooling

Explore concealed air handlers and short duct routes for a quieter visual presence in the finished home. With compatible equipment and suitable design, multiple floors can be served from one outdoor condenser with zoned heating, cooling, and dehumidification.

Ductwork & gas-line coordination

Ductwork layout and routing are considered alongside room arrangements and ceiling space. We coordinate ventilation routes, main gas lines, and appliance gas lines within the agreed mechanical installation scope.

Fresh air & humidity control

ERVs or HRVs, filtration, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers are selected around the home’s ventilation and comfort requirements. We help you understand what each system contributes and how it will be maintained.

Garages & outdoor winter comfort

Discuss garage heating and snow-melt systems during early planning. Equipment, surface construction, drainage, controls, and heat demand need to be coordinated with the rest of the project.

Controls you can live with

The system should be understandable when you move in. We consider thermostat locations, zoning, and control choices, then walk you through everyday operation and the care each installed system requires.

All-electric possibilities

High-performance homes. More ways to choose electric.

Efficient homes can be completed with all-electric heating and cooling. Climate Experts helps you compare heat-pump systems, air-to-water heat pumps, and electric boilers against the home’s design, electrical capacity, comfort priorities, and budget.

Air-to-water heat pumps

An option for supplying hydronic heating within an appropriately designed system. We discuss emitter temperatures, heating demand, backup heat, and the installation requirements before equipment is selected.

Electric boilers

A straightforward electric heat source for suitable radiant-floor, radiator, or other hydronic applications. Available electrical capacity and the expected operating requirements belong in the early discussion.

Concealed, zoned comfort

Compatible concealed indoor units can provide heating, cooling, and dehumidification across several zones. Thoughtful placement and local duct routes can reduce—and in some designs eliminate—bulkheads and duct chases between floors.

The Climate Experts Experience

From your first conversation to the home you live in.

Clear communication makes a complex project easier to follow. Our process keeps you and your builder involved as the work moves from early decisions to installation, system education, and ongoing care.

01

Consultation, equipment selection & estimate

We begin with your project stage, comfort goals, plans, must-haves, and target budget. Together, we compare suitable mechanical approaches and the work they involve before detailed HVAC design. Your proposal estimate outlines the anticipated equipment, installation scope, assumptions, and costs; as the design develops, we review the details against that direction.

02

An on-site walkthrough with you & your builder

Before installation proceeds, we review equipment locations, ductwork routes, ventilation, thermostat placement, and other practical details together. You and your builder can ask questions, address space considerations, and coordinate the work with the other trades.

03

Careful rough-in installation

We install the mechanical infrastructure included in the agreed scope, which may include ductwork, ventilation, refrigerant piping, gas piping, and hydronic components. We coordinate with the builder and trades to support the construction sequence and take care with the work that will be behind the finished walls and ceilings.

04

Finishing, start-up & commissioning

As the home nears completion, we return for the remaining equipment, controls, grilles, and finishing components. We start up, test, and commission the installed systems, check operation, and address final adjustments before your homeowner walkthrough.

05

Your homeowner walkthrough

We explain the installed heating, cooling, ventilation, humidity-control, and hot-water equipment. You will see how to use the thermostats, where filters are located, what everyday operation involves, and when to contact Climate Experts for help.

06

Maintenance 365 & continued support

The relationship continues after move-in. We review the equipment installed in your home and discuss a maintenance plan identifying enrolled systems, included care, and applicable pricing. Our local team remains available for maintenance, repairs, and questions as you settle in.

A familiar team after the keys are yours.

A custom home can contain several comfort systems, and the maintenance plan should reflect that. Maintenance 365 Plus is $29.95 + HST per month for a furnace or air handler matched with a heat pump or A/C. Basic plans start at $9.95 + HST per month, with other equipment quoted as add-ons.

Applicable Plus benefits include safety checks and service reports, specified replacement filters, no diagnostic fees, preferred labour rates, and priority service within 24 hours. Humidifier maintenance and pad replacement apply when that equipment is enrolled. We confirm the coverage and care appropriate to your particular installation.

From our Pickering location, we support customers in Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Scarborough, Toronto, Markham, Richmond Hill, and Stouffville. Emergency service is available within 24 hours, including evenings and weekends.

Tell us about the home you want to build.

Send us the project location, stage, approximate size, available plans, comfort priorities, and target budget. We will discuss where our early consulting can help and the next step toward an informed mechanical proposal.
