Snow-melt systems.
A thoughtful plan for winter access.

A heated driveway, walkway or entrance starts with a clear plan for the surface you want to keep usable. Climate Experts installs, repairs and maintains hydronic snow-melt systems across Durham, Toronto and selected York Region communities, with automatic sensing and compatible weather-predictive controls.

Heat the areas that matter most to you.

Your priority may be the slope of a driveway, a front walk or the approach to your door. We help define the heated footprint before the equipment is selected. That keeps the conversation focused on your access needs, the construction work and the installation and operating budget.

Snow-melt heating is an outdoor load. Surface area, exposure and intended melting performance determine the capacity required. We assess the heat source, protected fluid circuit, pumps and controls together; an existing boiler cannot be assumed to have enough unused capacity.

Snow-melt systems for driveways, walkways & entrances.

A snow-melt system heats a defined outdoor surface to help melt snow and ice. Hydronic tubing is installed within a suitable surface assembly and carries a heated, appropriately protected fluid circuit. Climate Experts helps you consider where heating will be most useful, the construction work involved, and the equipment required to operate it.

You may want to heat a front walkway, a sloped driveway, or the approach to an entrance. Those are different areas with different loads and practical constraints. We discuss the heated footprint, exposure, surface construction, drainage and expectations during snowfall before proposing the system.

Define the area & heat demand

Decide which surfaces need heating and how the system is intended to perform. Outdoor conditions and the selected heated area affect required capacity; the existing boiler cannot be assumed to have spare capacity.

Coordinate surface work & drainage

Tubing placement needs coordination with the paving or concrete assembly, insulation where specified, joints and other site work. Meltwater needs a drainage route that accounts for nearby unheated areas.

Automatic snow & ice detection

We use automatic snow-and-ice detection with in-surface puck sensors. When the sensor detects the conditions that call for melting, the compatible control starts the system automatically. Sensor placement and control settings are part of the installation plan.

Plan protection & ongoing care

The fluid, freeze-protection strategy, circulation and any separation from indoor heating need a system-specific plan. Periodic checks of pumps, sensors, controls and fluid condition support continued operation.

Wi-Fi snow-melt controls that prepare for the weather.

For homeowners who want the surface to begin warming before snowfall arrives, we offer compatible Wi-Fi snow-melt controls with weather-predictive operation. With an internet connection, the enabled forecast feature uses weather information for your location to preheat the surface ahead of predicted snowfall. That early start can shorten the warm-up time when snow arrives. Wi-Fi options also allow remote monitoring and operation through the compatible app. We explain the available features, sensor arrangement and settings for the selected system, including the effect of preheating on operating costs.

Clear expectations through changing winter conditions.

Heating a surface takes energy and time. Snowfall intensity, outdoor temperature, wind, surface conditions and the chosen control strategy affect results and operating costs. We do not promise instantly clear surfaces in every storm or eliminate the need to monitor the area. We explain the intended operation, limits and service requirements in the proposal.

For an existing system that is not melting properly, tell us whether it starts, what the control displays, and which areas remain affected. The issue may involve sensing, heat delivery, circulation or controls. We assess the installation before recommending repairs.

Snow-melt installation & replacement, with a clear scope.

We begin with your existing equipment, the spaces you want to improve and the budget you want to work within. Climate Experts explains the selected equipment, connections, controls, access and installation work before you make a decision. The accepted installation scope has a fixed price from start to finish, without hidden fees; any change you request is discussed and agreed before additional work proceeds.

Snow-melt service, repairs & maintenance.

If performance has changed, tell us which area is affected and what you have noticed. Our team checks the relevant heat source, circulation, controls and connected equipment before recommending repairs. A problem at one component can affect the entire circuit, so our hydronic experience helps us look beyond the part that first appears to be at fault.

For an urgent request, call us directly. We offer emergency service within 24 hours, including after hours on evenings and weekends. For ongoing care, we can review separately quoted hydronic equipment coverage through Maintenance 365. Your plan should reflect the equipment your home actually has.

Questions about your heating system.

Does snow melt start automatically?

With compatible controls and a properly installed snow-and-ice puck sensor, the system can start when the sensor detects conditions that call for melting.

Can it warm the surface before snowfall?

Compatible Wi-Fi controls can use forecast information to preheat the surface when their predictive feature is enabled. Internet access, settings and the selected equipment determine the available functions.

Can you repair an existing heated driveway?

We can assess the accessible heat source, fluid circuit, pumps, sensing and controls. Buried tubing access or surface reconstruction is assessed separately if that work is required.

Will every storm leave the surface completely clear?

Results depend on design capacity, weather, wind, surface conditions and control strategy. We explain the intended operation and realistic limits before installation.
